Hey, I’m Carlee the creator behind the Self-Care Enthusiast and Sunshine Yoga for Recovery & Mental Health.
2 years into my recovery journey I began to practice yoga at home and then slowly worked my way into taking my first class at a studio. Yoga felt like a coming home. During my first class it felt like emotions were bubbling to the surface which I thought was strange because I wasn’t having coffee with a friend or talking with my therapist (which I did quite regularly)…I was just taking a yoga class and working through some shit.
Yoga and Art soon became foundations in my recovery journey. Yoga has helped me to be less angry, less stressed, less judgemental of myself and others. It helped to sooth my mental health and give me a reprieve from the constant cravings I was experiencing. It also helped magically with my anxiety and depression.
Now 4 years clean and sober I have taken a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training and am actively working toward my 12-step Yoga Certification. It is my mission and highest honour to share yoga with others and hope it helps them as much as it helped me.
I offer classes on a donation basis as well as many unique and frankly, really cool workshops.
